There’s a new and exciting project brewing in the Capital Region called communityLAB (Leadership and Action Building), which is about offering community organizing training, for everyone. We want to build leaders in every neighborhood, starting with our Troy Fellows Project. Our goal is to help build grassroots power and hope in the neighborhoods of the Capital Region by training local leaders in the skills they need to strengthen their communities.

This week, communityLAB hits two big milestones–one: we hit our goal on indiegogo and want to push even further (with only about 12 hours left). Click to donate; two: we are having our first fundraiser for the Troy Fellows Project on Thursday, March 27 at 7 PM at the Oakwood Community Center at 313 10th Street, Troy, NY. If you can’t make it, but would like to support communityLAB, mail contributions to TRIP, 415 River St. 3rd Floor, Troy, NY 12180 with “for communityLAB” in the memo line.

Continue reading to see one of the cofounders, Shanna Goldman, and a member of the communityLAB steering committee, Angelica Clarke (me!), chat about why our project is important and timely.
Really, our fundraiser for the Troy Fellows Project is at 7 PM on Thursday, March 27 at the Oakwood Community Center. I’ll be MCing the night, which means it’ll be a blast! Like communityLAB on Facebook to keep up-to-date on what we’re working on.
